Feedback Needed…

I have been getting a lot of questions about Zone and Nutrition and adding more Cardio work into the program. I am willing to help out and think I have a few ways to tackle each one of these projects but I need to know how many people are interested and willing to commit to it. Please post your thoughts and comments on here. I need your feedback to make sure this works for everyone.

Extra Work: For those concerned that they need extra work above the workout that we do in the gym there is no need to worry these workouts are meant to be sufficient along with an active lifestyle and possibly some recreational sports on the side, however since many of us don’t play sports anymore maybe we need a boost. If I receive enough interest in it I will begin to post 3-4 separate workouts designed around cardio training including at least one hike each week. I’d like to think that the people who express interest in this extra programming will help hold each other accountable to doing the work and will begin to meet up with each other to do the runs and hikes together. We all know that we work better and harder when we work together…Who’s in for the Cardio / Hike Programming?

Zone / Nutrition: I am thinking of a few ideas regarding this. I’d like to have a few Zone Classes at the gym. We will be able to cover in more detail The Zone, the conversions, favorable and unfavorable Carbs, Paleo, and any other questions that come up. I need input from people on best times to be able to attend. Obviously when Workouts are not running would be preferable so throw some ideas out at me for what works for you.

A second idea that has been brought up to me is a private class for groups of up to 3 people at a time. This class would be about 2-3 hours in length. It will involve sitting down with one of us and writing a very specific meal plan tailored around you and your schedule, lifestyle, food likes and dislikes. After that there will be a grocery list made and a trip to the store to teach you how to shop, what to read when looking at foods, staples to always have on hand, and best choices in a pinch. After the grocery shopping you are invited back to our house where we will show you how to prep and prepare all of your meals for the following week and will leave our house with your meals and plan in hand. The private classes would be on either a Sat. or Sun. and would be an extra cost due to the amount of work that it would entail on our part. Cost is still an issue that we are working out. Your input on this idea is welcome.

  1. The extra cardio sounds good if people are interested. I would also like to see more Olympic Weight Lift training. I know a lot of the ladies may not like it, but they need to incorporate it into the other stuff they are doing. I enjoy it and would come in and do it by myself, but sometimes I need extra training with it, as you’ve seen. Thanks for everything!

  2. I love the idea of having several additional cardio workouts each week. Although our programmed workouts are amazing and sufficient, I’ve found the extra work to be great for breaking through plateaus. The challenges also help with this. My favorite challenge was last year’s burpee challenge – what a change 100 days of burpees makes to your body and conditioning! Lucky for us, you are creative with our workouts…..I’m sure you’ll come up with some fun and challenging extras! 🙂 Thanks!

  3. I am very interested in the ZONE classes.

  4. This is Michelle, under Sally’s name. I love this idea, I have to admit that I am struggling with the changes that have occurred during the time the gym closed. I got a bit lazy and I put on some weight. It didn’t help that the Holidays were during the same time, but nonetheless, the place I am currently, requires a much needed kick start to get desired results. I would love doing some extra cardio, and having fellow members to participate would make it more enjoyable. Also, the zone education is essential to this process. We all know that eating right is necessary, but I for one, know that I would very much appreciate a formal sit down class/instructional session from someone that is comfortable and knowledgeable with the zone concept. I am eager to get changes and willing to put the investment of time and money into efforts that will provide a healthy lifestyle. I am grateful that you are considering all this extra support and want you to know that I accept the offers!!!!

  5. I think this is a great idea! I really need to get a grip with eating right. I want to build more muscle , I don’t need to lose any weight but I aslo want to eat right for my health too. Iam so thankful for you and Sally and all the help and encouragement you guys give us! I should do some extra workouts too as Iam sure I will get the results Iam looking for along with diet changes. Thank you so much for EVERYTHING you do!!!

  6. I would love the extra Cardio workout and Zone!! I don’t think I can fit in a hike, do not have enough “me” time left in the day. But like the idea to add extra cardio. I also really like the idea Christie had to add Olympic Weight Lift training. Maybe it can be alternating Cardio and Weight wod’s?

Zone is new to me and still learning, please let me know the cost of the private class. I will be there for the in gym class!!!!

Thanks again for all your help!!

  7. Definitely. Especially after getting a taste of a heftier cardio workout elsewhere it was amazing at how much my body had gotten used to doing the same activities, even though they are very challenging. I love the longer workouts so this is a welcome addition for me. Even as varied as the workouts are, after a year + of training I do go through periods where I find myself a little bored. Thanks for the changes! I also love the idea of addition lifting techniques!

  8. I love the hike idea! I’ve been doing a nice little hike near my parents house. It only takes me about 15 minutes and it is pretty KILLER! If you live in the east valley its really close and easy to pull right off the road and do. Here’s the directions if you are interested and maybe some of us can go together sometime. My goal is to one day be able to run up this mountain. On the 60 heading east. Take 202 Red Mountain North. Exit Brown Rd. Turn right. The mountain is about 1/2 mile down on the left. You can’t miss it. There is a dirt lot to park at that is easy on all types of cars and there are even some trails around it to do some trail running. From my house on Higley/Baseline it takes about 10 minutes or less to get there.

  9. I think these are great ideas. I think for me, the problem is motivation right now. I was super motivated last year and saw amazing results. I’m trying to find that balance now between getting in even better shape by eating healthy, and also recognizing how far I’ve come. I’ll stick to the work outs, but unfortunately I think it’s going to be another couple months before I can get super motivated with my diet again.
